Rachel Coleman, co-creator of Signing Time and president of the Signing Time Foundation, was recently elected to serve on the board of directors for the American Society for Deaf Children.

ASDC is a national non-profit agency established in 1967 that provides education, resources and advocacy for families who have children who are deaf and hard of hearing. ASDC believes that every deaf child, whatever the level of his/her hearing loss, should have the right to grow up bilingual; that deaf or hard-of-hearing children are entitled to full communication access in their home, school, and community; and that language development, respect for the Deaf, and access to deaf and hard-of-hearing role models are important to assure optimal intellectual, social, and emotional development. Families can register for a free one year membership with ASDC.

Rachel will be at the ASDC Conference in Tucson, AZ in June. She will attend with her husband, Aaron, and their daughters, Leah and Lucy. The conference is open to the public.
