Play in Sign Language
Learn how to sign play in ASL (American Sign Language). You can play everyday… at home, and with Alex and Leah!
- With both hands: Extend the thumb and pinky fingers out and tuck the remaining fingers into the palm of the hands.
- Hold both of your hands in this shape out a little bit from your body and about shoulder height.
- Rotate the wrists to twist the hands back and forth a few times.
- This sign is as fun to do as it is to play! Use this cue to help you remember the sign.
Teaching Tips - to learn how to sign play in ASL
- Encourage your child to sign along with the Signing Time introduction song on each video and use the signs they know – you can start with play!
- Learning for kids is all about play! Free play is very valuable. Get involved by starting a dialogue, “What are you playing? Can I join? How can I play too?”
