What Do I Do When My Toddler Is Aggressive?

It is part of normal development for toddlers and preschoolers to exhibit aggressive behavior. Just like all other aspects of development, there is a wide range when it comes to aggressive behavior. The aggression comes down to a child not being able to regulate their emotions during a particular situation. The aggression may occur because your child is tired or hungry. Others occur because your child has something unexpected happen and they don’t know how to manage their emotions in that situation. These are often referred to as triggers. Evaluating your child before and during the tantrum will help you …

From our Signing Families

Baby Signing Time Just wanted to let you know about my five-year-old, Little Brian, and how much he loves Baby Signing Time videos. He who was born with Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome. He doesn’t speak any words, but loves to move his little hands around while he watches the videos. He can sometimes make the sign for more! Last year, Brian was diagnosed with Leukemia. I quit my part-time job as our already heavy load of doctor and therapy appointments skyrocketed. We spent many months in the hospital. When no other toys could calm Brian during his painful chemo treatments, we …

Thank you, Signing Time!

When we started learning Sign Language from Signing Time with our children over 16 years ago our goal was to offer early communication to our children. Our children have experienced several benefits from using sign language such as fewer tantrums, early/advanced reading skills, and a love for learning. We have used sign language to communicate during a movie, at church, and even when my children are on the bench during their hockey games. My oldest daughter has continued to learn sign language in High School and has been able to use it while at work to communicate with Deaf patrons. …

Signing Turns Your Child’s Brain On

All of our children have normal hearing and don’t have any behavior or physical conditions. But we wanted to communicate early with our babies, and give them the tools to communicate with us.  And it worked! When our first daughter was about 6 months old, we introduced her to the first volume of Baby Signing Time. She loved the show and began signing to us. We also signed multiple things to her.  By the time she was 1 year old, she could sign 50 words. Over the next few months, she learned 100 more! We were so impressed. It really helped …

Signing with Hard of Hearing Children

Hi, my name is Marisa and I’m a momma bear of 4 kiddos, 3 of which are HOH (hard-of-hearing), and wear hearing aids. I have 3 boys and one girl, ages 11, 8, 2 and 9-months. “Signing Time” was one of the first resources I found, over 10 years ago, when my first son was diagnosed with hearing loss. Your videos made a sometimes hard and solemn time more enjoyable and fun. They were a way to connect with my babies when I felt so disconnected from them. I am now almost fluent in sign language and am teaching my …
