Love and Gratitude: Four Keys

By Rebecca Overson As a life coach, I work with individuals to help them improve their experience of life, which always includes developing more fulfilling relationships. We have many opportunities to express our love and appreciation for the people around us. Think how many times a day you might say thank you. I personally think that gratitude is a form of love – but do we take as many opportunities to say thank you and I love you to those who need to hear it? Here are four keys to expressing love and gratitude that I was introduced to by …

Remember that 17-month old toddler, Elizabeth Barrett, who astonished us all when she proved that reading at such a young age was possible? Last March, Elizabeth and her parents were invited to appear on the Today Show, where Elizabeth read words and even sentences in front of a nation-wide audience. Elizabeth’s parents attribute her early reading in part to Signing Time. According to the Today Show website, “The Barretts are speech pathologists, and when Elizabeth was born, they started teaching her sign language along with spoken language. No-Stress Sign Language

I found out about Signing Time several years ago from my daughter, Kelly. She started working for a company called Two Little Hands Productions. I was living in California at the time and remember when she sent me a gift set, which included My First Signs, Playtime Signs and Everyday Signs. What fun! I immediately began to learn new signs and found myself singing along with Rachel. I was addicted! This is a show that kept my attention and helped me learn a new language, while being totally family friendly. When I watch the shows, Rachel makes me feel like …

A fun way to keep your kids learning and playing ALL summer!

Myself and team of amazingly creative Signing Time Staff have been working feverishly on a Signing Time Summer School Packet. And trust me, I had my childhood in mind every step of the way. With every project, worksheet and activity, I had to think to myself if this was something that I would have liked to do as a rambunctious, active 9 year old. As soon as that last bell on the last day of school rang, I ran full steam ahead into my summer vacation, leaving math, reading and science projects far behind. This Summer School Packet is super …

Is it Okay to Let My Baby Watch TV? Comments on article

The article, “Is it Okay to Let My Baby Watch TV”, found on www.content4reprint.com, gives some interesting insights on the disadvantages and also the benefits of educational television programs for babies. Madeleine, the managing editor at Brillbaby, reports on the latest statistics and research about how no TV watching is better than unsupervised television watching, and adds that the American Academy of Pediatrics has advised that the under-two’s should not be allowed to watch any TV. BUT this is the comment I found most interesting: “Many parents and teachers find, however, that high-quality educational TV programs complement interactions with their …

Freedom of Vinyl Lettering

As I am coming to the end of transcribing and posting my Ghana Journal I am realizing that there are pieces, pictures and stories that I somehow left out. Surprising I know, since I have actually transcribed over 46 single spaced pages (so far), in a Word Doc. I know I mentioned that the taxis have vinyl lettering on the back windows. 99% of the sayings or words are spiritual in nature. Maybe we can be inspired by these images. What would you put on your car?
